Budget Process

2009-2010 Budget Development Process  

Note:  Additional information will be posted to this page as we work through the budget process.

The Board of Education is responsible for the development of each year’s budget and has approved a process and series of meetings for the development of the 2010-11 operating budget.  The operating budget provides for salaries, supplies and services, instruction, administration, operation and maintenance, and transportation.  The fiscal year runs July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

A public meeting will be held on March 31, 7:00 p.m., at Penticton Secondary Schoolto receive recommendations and/or suggestions for consideration by the Board during the development of the district’s annual operating budget.  Individuals or groups wanting to make presentations, either in person or in writing, are asked to notify Secretary-Treasurer Ron Shongrunden, 250-770-7705, by March 29, 2010.

Members of the public and partner groups can provide recommendations/suggestions to the budget directly on-line at 2010-11 Budget Development Survey.   All comments will be reviewed by the Board during the development of the budget.

April 7, 12:00 noon Finance and Management Committee Meeting
April 12, 6:30 p.m.
Regular Board of Education Meeting
April 14, 12:00 noon Finance and Management Committee Meeting
April 14, 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Finance and Management Committee meets with OSTU to review any budget requests from the OSTU
April 14, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Finance and Management Committee meets with CUPE to review any budget requests from CUPE
April 20, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Trustees will meet with principals, vice principals, and district staff to review the budget development and options
April 21, 12:00 noon Finance and Management Committee Meeting
April 27, 7:00 p.m. Trustees will attend the DPAC meeting to receive input from parents
April 28, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Finance and Management Committee Meeting
Week of April 26 to 30 The secretary-treasurer and assistant superintendent will meet with both CUPE and OSTU executives regarding the budget 
May 3, 7:00 p.m. A special public Board of Education meeting will be held to approve the preliminary budget
