SD67 is dedicated to improving achievement for all students. As our slogan says, we are “Working Together for Student Success”.
Welcome to the sunny Okanagan

International Education is an important part of our school district. We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs and interests of our parents and students from around the world.

Our schools have a very good reputation in the Province of British Columbia. We have high academic standards, professional staff, safe schools, innovative programs, modern facilities, well maintained grounds, friendly communities and caring homestay (Click for Application PDF or Word ) families.

So, if you are interested in a quality learning experience in Canada, you should consider attending our schools as an international student.

Where are we  located? (City of Penticton Website & District of Summerland Website )
School District 67 is located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the interior of the British Columbia, Canada.

The School District is centered around the cities of Penticton and Summerland, BC. The area population is about 60,000 people. Penticton has a modern airport with daily flights to Vancouver and Calgary.

Tourist Destination
The Okanagan is a great place to live and to learn! It is a popular tourist destination for visitors from around the world.

The year round recreation includes the world class ski resort at Apex Mountain and the world class summer resorts and beaches on Okanagan and Skaha Lakes.
Our Schools

School District 67 has over 7000 students attending 19 government-certified public schools with the latest in technological and learning resources. Our school district has been recognized provincially and nationally for using technology to enhance learning and for creating efficiencies throughout the system and community with our fibre-optic and wireless networks. Students can choose to attend any of our three high schools -- Penticton Secondary, Princess Margaret, and Summerland Secondary.

English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language is a program available to students whose primary language is not English.  They may require language assistance in order to develop their individual potential within the BC school system.  Other students may speak variations of English that differ significantly from that used in school and in broader Canadian society and may require English As a Second Language to achieve success.

An English As a Second Language teacher assesses a student's language skills and then determines if there is a need for ESL support.  All four language areas - listening, speaking, reading and writing - are assessed.  Each student's program is then adapted as necessary to encourage the development of his or her individual potential.

The goals of our ESL program are to provide students with assistance to become proficient in English and to achieve the expected learning outcomes of the curriculum.  Services are delivered through individual ESL instruction for students and through supportive services within a mainstream classroom.

Students' progress is reviewed annually through an assessment of English language proficiency.

LOW STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIOS

 .

Student to teacher ratios in our ESL program are extremely low, enabling International students the opportunity for more individual instruction.

Program of studies
Our schools offer a comprehensive program including the humanities, mathematics, arts, sciences, fine arts, technology, languages, physical education and English as a Second Language.

Students are taught the British Columbia curriculum of studies by professional certified teachers.
International Education
School District 67’s international program has students from around the world.

We have many successful international programs: Homestay is an important part of the program. Students live with a Canadian family. This is an enriching cultural experience for everyone.

We have 3 secondary schools – Penticton Secondary, Princess Margaret Secondary and Summerland Secondary.
