THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Work and play in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. School District No. 67 serves over 6000 students (K-12) living in the South Okanagan communities of Penticton, Kaleden, Naramata and Summerland. The communities are served by a combination of seventeen schools: 11 elementary, 3 middle, and 3 secondary schools. This compact school district has a proud history of excellent student achievement across a wide range of accomplishment areas. Academics, fine arts, athletics, career programs, French Immersion, applied skills: all areas pride themselves on including a broad range of students while fostering excellence for the most capable and achieving students.
THE COMMUNITIES
The communities are nestled on the sides of Skaha and Okanagan Lakes in the heart of wine and fresh fruit country. Summerland is a 15-minute drive north of Penticton and 45 minutes south of Kelowna on the side of Okanagan Lake. Apex Mountain Ski Resort, named nationally and north America-wide as one of the finest small destination ski areas, is an easy 45-minute drive from Penticton. The combination of good working conditions, strong community support for schooling, and excellent recreational amenities makes the area a highly desirable home.

Working together for student success by recruiting and maintaining a quality work force in School District No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha).
We believe:
- the quality of learning experience and extent of student learning is directly related to the quality of service provided to students by school personnel; and
- the quality of service provided to students by school personnel is dependent on good human resources practice; and
- that good human resources practice respects first the importance of the District mission, while respecting individuals, schools, public service, and contractual obligations.

TESTIMONIALS FROM NEW TEACHERS
"What a welcoming district! I have opportunities to learn and grow through staff enrichment during Ingite sessions, inquiry, reading groups and so much more. I'm able to support others and be supported to challenge myself in a dynamic learning environment for staff and students. Every day is new and exciting! Each school has a unique community that is blended together to make Penticton and SD67 what it is: a dynamic, exciting, and fun place to work, develop friendships, challenge your mind, and enjoy the Okanagan lifestyle."
" I have taught at all three secondary schools in the district, and worked as a TTOC in most of the other schools, and I can confidently say that SD67 has some of the most welcoming staff, administrators and support staff I have ever encountered. In addition, there is an abundance of professional development opportunities to take advantage of, including inquiry groups, assessment sessions and conferences. Furthermore, district supports have been implemented to benefit new or transferring teachers. All these different facets of support have been essential in forming my positive experience in this district. As a new teacher, not only do I feel supported in SD67, but I also feel like I belong here."
"My experience being employed with SD67 has been an extremely positive one. Early on in my employment it became clear to me how important it is for the administration to make sure TTOC's and new teachers feel included and connected to SD67. A meet and greet was held within the first few weeks of my employment. Here new hires were able to meet each other, and members of the administration. We also learned different resources available to us and had any questions answered."
"Perhaps something that has stuck out the most is how quickly my name and face was recognized. From the very first meet and greet, I was welcomed by supportive smiles and a "Hi ______, glad you can make it." To me this is a testimony to how important every person is within the SD. Whether someone has been employed with SD67 for years, or just beginning … whether someone is working as a teacher or a TTOC; everyone has a role and that role is appreciated."
"My experience since being hired on with SD67 has been fantastic. I feel very lucky to be employed with this district, and I hope to have a long, successful career with SD67. "
"As a new employee to the district I have been well supported in my new role. The district level staff has been extremely supportive and approachable. I appreciate the personal touch that all district staff has shown when I have come to them with a question or concern. This starts with the Superintendents and works all the way down to office support staff. Often times my questions were answered within hours of a query. "
"Upon being hired, I was given protocols and staff manuals that provided answers to many questions about how the district runs and where I can access help. As well, I was invited to join a “new teachers” group and a Special Education group where I have been able to network with other professionals in the district and in the community."
